This arrived in the e-mail – and would be a great opportunity for an Indigenous researcher interested in languages to work with the fabulous audio-visual collection at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) in Canberra, or to engage with the Government on language policy.
AIATSIS is proud to announce a new initiative to support Indigenous researchers.
In partnership with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, AIATSIS has established an Indigenous Researchers Fund to support a range of opportunities to visit AIATSIS for short periods in order to further their research or to engage with current public policy debates.
The Fund will provide $1 million dollars over three years to support Indigenous research both within and outside the university sector. This prestigious national research program will allow Research Fellows and Scholars to undertake research in their fields of interest and, where appropriate, work with relevant government departments to discuss policy and practice.
For further information about the positions, contact Mr Tony Boxall, phone 02 6246 1145, email tony.boxall AT aiatsis.gov.au, or visit the web site at http://www.aiatsis.gov.au/news/job_vacancies.
