{"id":3770,"date":"2008-12-24T14:35:18","date_gmt":"2008-12-24T14:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.paradisec.org.au\/blog\/2008\/12\/read-all-about-it\/"},"modified":"2011-02-05T07:49:18","modified_gmt":"2011-02-05T07:49:18","slug":"read-all-about-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.paradisec.org.au\/blog\/2008\/12\/read-all-about-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Read all about it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the hard work of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/aboutus\/students\/index.php?pid=1917\">Mike Franjieh<\/a> who is doing a PhD on a language of Ambrym, Vanuatu, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/\">Endangered Languages Project<\/a> at SOAS now has an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/aboutus\/rausingroom\/library.html\">on-line catalogue<\/a> of the more than 300 books and journals we have acquired over the past few years. The materials in our collection come from several sources, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>donations by publishers, such as the <i>Atlas of the World&#8217;s Languages<\/i> that we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/events\/atlaslaunch\/\">launched<\/a> two years ago\n<li>donations by colleagues, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/grants\/projects\/\">ELDP grantees<\/a>, of outputs from their research projects, such as <i>Adivinanzas en mixteco<\/i> a collection of stories in Mixteco, from Mexico. Some of the materials in this part of the collection are otherwise difficult to find in Europe\n<li>MA dissertations written by students in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/courses\/ma\/\">MA in Language Documentation and Description<\/a>, including original work with native speakers of endangered languages, such as Aromanian, Bajjika, Dolpo, Dulong, Khasi, Khorchin Mongolian and Uighur<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nMaterials in the collection are available for consultation in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrelp.org\/aboutus\/rausingroom\/\">Rausing Room<\/a>, a purpose-built research facility for staff, students and visitors which also houses public access computers and equipment, such as kit for digitisation of tapes and cassettes.<br \/>\nWe welcome additional donations of books and journals on endangered languages to the collection &#8212; please contact Mike Franjieh (217081 AT soas.ac.uk) or Peter Austin (pa2 AT soas.ac.uk) if you are interested in contributing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to the hard work of Mike Franjieh who is doing a PhD on a language of Ambrym, Vanuatu, the Endangered Languages Project at SOAS now has an on-line catalogue of the more than 300 books and journals we have acquired over the past few years.
