It&#8217;s a clear summary of the perilous state of Australian Indigenous languages and of the way present government policy is imperilling them further. He reinforces the points made by <a href=\"\/blog\/2008\/10\/education-restructure-includes-greater-emphasis-on-english-inge-kral\/\">Inge Kral<\/a> and  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australianreview.net\/digest\/2008\/10\/wilkins.html\">David Wilkins<\/a> that the best evidence on how children learn goes against the NT Government&#8217;s <a href=\"\/blog\/2008\/10\/communication-dreams\/\">move to dismantle bilingual education<\/a>.   Relevant to this are the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ngapartji.org\/content\/view\/22\/52\/\">material and links<\/a> on the Ngapartji Ngapartji website.<br \/>\nAnd <em>Life &#038; Times<\/em>  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/rn\/lifeandtimes\/stories\/2008\/2412219.htm\">rebroadcast<\/a> a documentary, <em>On the Shore of a Strange Land &#8211; the Story of David Unaipon<\/em>, a Ngarrindjeri\/Yaraldi man who recorded his people&#8217;s stories and aspects of their  daily lives.  It was originally aired on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/rn\/hindsight\/stories\/2007\/2111716.htm\">Hindsight<\/a>. MP3 <a href=\"http:\/\/mpegmedia.abc.net.au\/rn\/podcast\/current\/audioonly\/lat_20081108.mp3\">here<\/a>.  A remarkable man.   The documentary includes reminiscences by people who knew him<br \/>\nSome of Unaipon&#8217;s work was published in pamphlets in his life, but the bulk was ripped off by William Ramsay Smith and published under Ramsay Smith&#8217;s name.
